Due to the extreme heat that we are experiencing today (Wednesday) and for the remainder of the week, we are taking steps to mitigate the impact for our pupils and staff. We are keeping our classrooms as cool as possible and relocating classes where necessary to cooler spaces within the school. Pupils are being kept inside where possible during the hottest part of the day, and there will be no PE activities outside. If you feel you are better able to keep your child cool at home, parents are welcome to collect their children from school today and for the rest of the week from 1pm. Our schools will remain open and children are able to stay in school until home time. If your school has an after-school wrap provision, this will remain open. We believe it is in your child's best interests to remain in school but should you consent to them leaving early, please read and share with them the official Government advice on staying safe in the heat below. With the warm weather continuing, we would like to remind you of a few important arrangements to help keep all pupils comfortable and safe during the school day. Please ensure that your child: Is wearing either PE kit or summer uniform Has sun cream applied before coming to school (this should be a one-time application at home) Brings a named water bottle to stay well hydrated throughout the day Brings a hat to wear during outdoor times In light of the high temperatures, Year 6 pupils do not need to wear ties this week. We will be monitoring the arrangements for Sports Day to keep everyone safe in the predicted temperatures. Thank you for your continued support in helping us keep the children safe and comfortable.
